Freeeeeezing!!

What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult.

Sigmund Freud

Today's video is call Bathtub V and its from somewhere a lot warmer than here!!  It is part of a series by Keith Loutit (keithloutit.com).  I found it on Vimeo but have linked to his personal website as well.  It is part of a project he is making in co-operation with the Port of Sydney in Australia and is a cool adventure into the world of miniature.

Foggy days...

A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.
Bob Dylan

Today's film is called Bebugs Odyssey.  It was made by the Vimeo user oneedo who has an extremely imaginative imagination!!  It's class!
Here's what the film maker had to say.
A short film I made in 2008. I didn't have a plan for the story, I made it up shot by shot from start to finish one shot a day. To keep me interested in the process I tried not to think ahead so that every day would be a surprise.
Sound and music by Ben Sinclair, he saved my bacon, the music really pulls the film together.

Big and bigger

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.
Albert Einstein

The world is a big place.  Lots to see and loads to discover.  The answers to all our problems are out there and it is up to us to find them and make use of it all in our everyday lives.

Todays internet vid is called Move by Rik Mereki.  It can be found on Vimeo and is the absolute hammer!!  Here's a short description from the maker.  Enjoy!

3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage... all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ....into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films.....

= a trip of a lifetime.

move, eat, learn

People are awesome!

“We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken.”
Fydor Dostoevsky

Peace begins with a smile

I've found a video a from TSO Photography, located on Vimeo and it is called The Arctic Light.  It is a time lapse vidoe and was filmed between 29th April and 10th May 2011 in the Arctic, on
the archipelago Lofoten in Norway.  Her's some of what the film maker had to say;

My favorite natural phenomenon is one I do not even know the name of, even after talking to meteorologists and astrophysicists I am none the wiser. What I am talking about I have decided to call The Arctic Light and it is a natural phenomenon occurring 2-4 weeks before you can see the Midnight Sun.  At 1:06 you see a single scene from day to night to day which is from 9pm to 7am. Think about that for a minute.. 10 hours with light like that.

Pretty awe inspiring stuff accompanied by the appropriate music.  Check it out on Vimeo if you would like a full explanation\description of what, where, etc. Enjoy!

Warm weather sucks!

For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.
John F. Kennedy

So the rain that arrived on Saturday afternoon put a huge damper on my weekend.  I got up to ride some fresh powder first thing in the morning and managed to get in about 2 hours on the lift behind the house but that was it.  Got warmer, snow was ruined and my session was prematurely over!  Sunday was spent shovelling massive amounts of wet snow off the roof!  I hope your weekend was better!?

Anyway, today's awesome little video is called s_11 and is made by the Vimeo user Ben.  It shows you some of the tricks and methods he uses to create the effects seen in the film.  Here's what he has to say:

The footage from the factory is from the oldest motor plant in the world. It was founded in 1864 by Eugen Langen and August Otto. Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach worked here from 1876 in a management position. Here is the origin of the motorized world. Now the building should be demolished to create space for a new cable factory...

The video sequences are taken with a canon 5D MK II which I have borrowed for two days ,.... too short to become familiar with this amazing camera.

Nice video and the effects are cool too!

Stop-Motion Biscuit Cake from Alan Travers on Vimeo.

Nobody seems more obsessed by diet than our anti-materialistic, otherworldly, New Age spiritual types. But if the material world is merely illusion, an honest guru should be as content with Budweiser and bratwurst as with raw carrot juice, tofu and seaweed slime.
Edward Abbey

Yeah man...it's Friday.  Work is about to finish and its dumping down with snow!!  So....whilst I'm up to my waist in fresh powder I thought I provide you with a little gem I found on Vimeo entitled Stop-Motion Biscuit cake.  Alan Travers made this video to promote his girlfriends entry in the Chef Factor competition.  It's alot of fun and very well done.

And just to get you pumped...check out Jake Blauvelt and some crazy fat powder!!
Enjoy your weekend!!

Wonderwoman...

A step back in time....

London (Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger) from David Hubert on Vimeo.

There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are.
Ernst Haas

I lived in London a while back and this video really does capture the essence of living in one of the biggest cities in the world.  It's called London (Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger) and is made by David Hubert.  Found on Vimeo.  Here's what the film maker had to say.

"I wanted to make a video of London while I was there in 2008 but I didn't have any camcorder, so I took pictures instead. In fact I took more then 3000 pictures and put them all together in less then 2 minutes."

An excellent video with a groovy little tune by aRTIST oF tHE yEAR aoty.ca thrown in as well!!
EPIC!
